Title: UMBRO DIVISION MANAGER of the MONTH
Post by: Raingod on February 13, 2021, 08:09:38 am
January:

Whilst the likes of Dundalk, Leicester and Lisbon scramble around at the foot of the form table, 4 clubs head and shoulders above the rest on current form

4th :   Burrows – Rangers

P5 W3 D2 L0

Burrows has got this Rangers team motoring - unbeaten in the month, with 2 1-1 draws followed by 3 wins, the highlight being a 7-0 thrashing of Lisbon!

Also 3 clean sheets in the victories, so they are hard to beat!

Joint 2nd:   Darlington - Everton

P5 W4 D0 L1

Just the one defeat at the start of the month, followed by 4 consecutive wins - all with clean sheets!

Darlington's only concern may be the goalscoring output - just the 1 or 2 per game .... perhaps a new striker could solve this?

Joint 2nd :   Unai Emery - Villareal

P5 W4 D0 L1

Identical record to Everton, also won their last 4, also with 4 clean sheets, also finding goals hard to come by ..

1st  :   Warthog - Valencia

P5 W4 D1 L0

Unbeaten in the month so well deserved for the man who is certainly getting them to overperform - winning a cup in season 1, and holding their own in the World Club Trophy Tournament!

Rangers drew 1-1 with them to prevent 100% record - and like Villareal and Everton, their 4 victories have seen 0 goals conceded.

However they are scoring at least 2 per win as well, so they seem to have the right squad mix.

(Having loaned them Keita for the season I do feel that I have helped them to acheive this!!!!!)

My tip for the title!

Congrats Warthog!

February:

A really interesrting battle here with 4 sides all currently looking to emulate Spurs and win the Umbro Division this season ..

Whilst Sevilla sit at the bottom of the form table with 3 x 0-2 defeats, 2 sides are shortlisted for MOTM... and neither of them are in the current top 4 ...

2nd: Graham - Sporting Lisbon

P3 W2 D0 L1

With relegation threatening, snapping up an experienced manager like Graham is a great move by them and he has immediately seen an upturn in results ..

2 x wins with clean sheets being sepearated by a 0-3 reversal to Leicester.

Still only 1pt off the drop zone and with an inferior goal difference, Graham will have his work cut out but I'm confident he will do it!

1st - Brendan Rogers - Leicester

P3 W2 D1 L0

Surprised they are out of the top 4, were my tip for the title at the start of the season .. may have left it too late for Season 2, but attract a new manager and who knows for Season 3.

A credible 2-2 draw with leaders Valencia before 2 x comfortable wins scoring 5 and conceding zero show what a good squad they have ..

Umbro – March

This division has become a 3 horse race now, with Rangers securing just 1 point in the month, and Leicester – last month’s in form team - just 4 from the 12 available!

At the bottom, Porto, Dundalk and Sevilla are in trouble, whilst Lisbon and Sociedad are not safe yet!

Lots of draws in the league this month, with 7 of the 10 sides earning 50% or less of the points available (6).

2nd: Warthog  - Valencia

P4 W3 D0 L1

3 wins out of 4 for Valencia as they continue to overperform in the cups too – a tier 3 team in the semis of the World Club Trophy!

Tough to beat, conceding only 2 goals, but only averaging a goal per game, they need to score more ..

Hope they don’t overstretch themselves and end up with nothing …

In 2nd place in the league, 4 points ahead of Villareal in 3rd with 4 to play ..

1st: Darlington – Everton

P4 W4 D0 L0

Great month Darlington with a 100% league record – one of only 2 sides in the league to achieve this ..

Only 1 clean sheet and 3 of the 4 matches were won by the odd goal, so further improvements will be required if and when they are promoted ..

Just the 1 point lead over Valencia and identical goal difference, so still in the balance for the automatic promotion slot …

(..looks like I did you a favour knocking you out of the cup so you can concentrate on the league!!)
