Ajax 3-0 Barcelona

Wooooooooo! A second trophy to the cabinet for Ajax. We took a dream start with Latre Huupers smashing two goals in the opening 13 minutes, this pushed Barca into a more attacking system and Jaggernath chipped in a sublime effort to make it 3-0 after 25 minutes. From this point it was a shut out and we were proud and humble to lift the Graham Brown Cup.

A wonderful end to Ajax’s season and proof the Dutch squad project is capable of yielding results.

A wonderful result that puts us into a commanding position in the tie, but with nothing to lose and home advantage in the second leg, we will not be underestimating RSB whatsoever!

So it’s back to a 4 game month for January and we have a number of teams performing well.

The unmanaged Manchester City went through the month somehow undefeated with two draw and two wins. The Ajax rejuvenation continues under Skittles as they recorded 3 wins and a draw, which most months would be enough to take the award.   

BUT we have not just one, but TWO sides that recorded 100% records, Chris and Olympique Marseille AND Matt at PSG doing something really magic. Both sides had two away game, but having come from a lower spot in the league the manager of the month is Chris S with Marseille.

Again we have a couple of really honourable mentions this month, the unmanaged Môchengladbach recording 3 wins from 4 which was match by David H at Barcelona.

But both were pipped by yet ANOTHER 100% showing by Tim at Red Star Belgrade who takes the Adidas manager of the month award.

The Umbro league spoiled the party as nobody had a truly stand out month as nobody recorded more than 2 victories.

We have 7 sides that recorded 2 wins, a draw and a defeat.

But 2 sides went undefeated, unmakes Molde drew every game whereas Celtic managed a win and 3, and so in one of the worst months ever Skittles gets it either Celtic.

So it’s a tough job looking at this months form, on one hand high flyers Liverpool and Spurs both went undefeated, but took two wins and two draws in doing so. There’s clearly however something in the rain in Spain at the moment with both Real and Athletico taking 3 wins from 4. Given Athletico were at the bottom end of the table their form is a real turn around, and so Bruffio is our Elite League manager of the month.
