Four teams stood out in the Adidas League in January …

Joint 3rd: David H - Celtic

David’s main side also feature in the placings this month, as Celtic sit in 3rd, just outside the promotion places.

A tough league with lots of strong sides, but Celtic have strength in all positions – and I expect them to be up there come the end of the season…

Joint 3rd: Werewilf - Basel

After a terrible start to the season for the newly promoted side, with 4 straight losses, a run of 3 consecutive wins sees them in mid-table.

Only winning each by a single goal, perhaps a more attacking line up is needed to punish opponents .. but then again after a 1-5 reversal to Celtic in week 4, who can doubt Werewilf’s tactics since ..

Mid table safety will be the aim for the season and they will comfortably achieve this.

2nd  Daz - Spurs

Spurs are looking ominous – with  4 wins in a row in the month, each time scoring 4 or 5 goals, and only conceding a total of 3.

However a surprise 0-1 defeat at the weekend away to Basel sees them in 2nd, but already 4 pts off the top.

One of the strongest squads in the game, I do tip them for promotion this season.


1st   Daniel – Man City

Daniel has quietly gone about his business this season, and 5 straight wins in the month demonstrates the great job he is doing.

In 4 of the 5 they kept a clean sheet.

The board showed they made the right decision keeping him on after relegation …

Adidas – March


Spare a thought for my ex side Atalanta with a 100% loss record in the month .. after walking the league last year (with an 81% overall win rate *cough*cough*)they have really struggled and look to be down along with Lyon.

The surprise exit of City manager Daniel has caused a mini-collapse, with just 3 points from the 12 available in the month..

.. once Graham is settled they’ll be a force again ..

A real disparity of points allocation, with 5 sides getting 9+, and 5 sides getting 4 or less .. so very few draws ..


2nd: Daz – Spurs

With Man City falling away, Spurs continue their strong run and look certain to win a 2nd consecutive promotion ..

Three comprehensive victories – scoring 9 and conceding zero, coupled with a 2-2 draw against Celtic ..

However Daz is “double bridesmaid” in March ...

With identical records this decision could have gone either way – congrats David!

Spurs had better goal difference, but after much consideration it was felt Celtic had the tougher set of matches, and have developed a strong run that could see them catch City in 2nd …
